Overview

Corporate Banking (CB) is a technology centric business, with an increasing move to real-time processing, an increasing appetite from customers for integrated systems and access to supporting data. Joining our team is a unique opportunity to help rebuild the core of some of our most mission critical processing systems from the ground-up. You will work closely with stakeholders throughout the organization to understand their plans, assess impacts, and coordinate dependencies, ensuring our technology infrastructure meets the highest standards of efficiency and regulatory compliance. As part of our global team, you will focus on a range of tasks as an AI/ML Engineer; Your responsibilities encompass the design, development, testing, and deployment of AI/ML models and systems. You will be expected to contribute insights that shape our strategic direction, understand our product roadmap, merge business objectives with AI/ML capabilities, and foster an engineering culture that embraces innovation in AI/ML.

What You'll Do

  • Be part of a talented software team that works on innovative tasks, leverage best practices, and influence decisions

  • Engage in the development of AI/ML applications within an Agile collaborative environment, leading with expertise through the full AI/ML systems development lifecycle-from concept and data collection to model development, evaluation, and deployment. Write clear, maintainable, and reusable code for AI systems, and actively participate in code reviews

  • Design and develop scalable, cloud-ready AI systems, from conceptualization and data engineering to model design and deployment, ensuring they are optimized for performance and scalability

  • Collaborate closely with fellow AI engineers to influence and contribute to technical discussions, architecture decisions, and AI/ML specifications. Act as a hands-on lead engineer, consistently reviewing AI architectures and designs for quality, driving reuse, and advocating for AI best practices

  • Lead Research and Development (R&D) projects that serve as innovative building blocks or blueprints for mainstream AI application design and development. Deliver state-of-the-art AI solutions while being a hands-on technologist

How You'll Lead

  • Play leading role in talented software team, providing your guidance and influence to core design and decision making, growing team expertise, lead RnD and component development, actively engaging in design sessions with the global development team

  • Partner with many other product teams, enterprise infrastructure architects and engineers to optimize the solution delivery by integrating with appropriate control frameworks

  • Partner with enterprise risk team and production services to ensure continuous adherence to technology policies including technology roadmap compliance, collaborate and maintain clear and open communication with the teams, as well as educate other engineers in AI/ML topics, provide guidance and support

Skills You'll Need

  • Bachelors or Masters (preferred) degree in the field of computer science and/or technology with ability to approach complex problems methodically and apply AI/ML techniques effectively to solve real-world challenges

  • Strong experience with all Agile software development frameworks and processes, and software design, as well as Python and AI/ML libraries, especially LLM-related: LangChain, Llama Index, Haystack, gpt4all, llama.cpp. Experience with frameworks and libraries such as Tensor Flow, PyTorch, Keras, and others that facilitate building and training complex neural networks is a plus

  • Deep knowledge of machine learning algorithms (supervised and unsupervised learning, neural networks, reinforcement learning) and their mathematical underpinnings (like statistics, probability, linear algebra, calculus) with knowledge of cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) that offer AI/ML capabilities, understanding how to deploy models and manage scalable resources in the cloud

  • Data Engineering Skills: Ability to preprocess, clean, and organize data effectively. Familiarity with data manipulation tools and databases (SQL, NoSQL) and data processing frameworks (Pandas, NumPy, TensorFlow Data Services).

  • Understanding of MLOps principles to automate and streamline the lifecycle of AI/ML models, including continuous integration, delivery, and monitoring of models with familiarity with big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka for processing large datasets efficiently and Strong grasp of software engineering principles, including version control (Git), testing, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines

  • You share experience with entire Engineering organization

  • You are empathetic: you take other's opinion into account and clearly communicate your thoughts to reach technical solutions quickly

  • You stay current on the technical trends to suggest innovative tools and approaches to unique problems

Expectations

It is the Bank's expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the Cary office in accordance with the Bank's hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in Cary is $125,000 to $203,000. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
