What You Will Do:

  • Run a variety of analytical tests on samples submitted by our sales and research organizations. The samples' matrices will range from oil field brines, hydrocarbons, and solids.
  • Improve upon existing methods and assist in the develop of new, novel analytical techniques in support of our Research, Development and Engineering (RD&E) team.
  • Provide solutions to a wide range of difficult problems such as the design of complex systems and programs and/or the resolution of problems requiring state of the art awareness of the terminology.
  • Perform Scanning Electron Microscope - Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (SEMEDS) analyses on surfaces and/or solids filtered from oil field produced waters for imaging and/or semi-quantitative chemical analysis
  • Lead or act as a key technical contributor on projects/experiments/research of moderate scope and complexity with high impact on the business. Act with considerable latitude in determining technical approach required to meet desired objectives.
  • Provide direct analytical support for our Sales and Research organizations Directly communicate with fellow team members to ensure effective and efficient operations
  • Perform work in a safe manner while identifying opportunities for improving safety
  • Manage several requests at once while working within a fast-paced environment

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Biochemistry, or related field with a minimum of 5 years of related experience, Master of Science with a minimum of 3 years of related experience, or a PhD with minimal or no related experience
  • Experience with common surface analysis analytical techniques such as, but not limited to, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)
  • Ability to operate independently and as a part of a high-functioning team
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • An understanding of the priority of safety (chemicals, equipment, co-workers, and self)
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience analyzing solids by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), X-ray Fluorescence (XRF), CHN and O elemental analyses, and gravimetric techniques
  • Experience with utilizing and managing samples in a laboratory information management system (LIMS) or other sample/data tracking platforms Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate within all levels of the organization
  • The candidate should be outgoing, creative, a self-starter, and team orientated
