We have an exciting opening for a Legal Project Manager.

The Legal Project Manager is responsible for supporting the firm's legal project management (LPM) function. This includes helping to develop and implement LPM policies and procedures, training and coaching lawyers and staff on LPM best practices, and managing the firm's LPM software and tools. The Legal Project Manager works closely with partners and clients to ensure that legal projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest possible standards.

Candidates for the Legal Project Manager role will have strong interpersonal skills a background in project management and legal experience. They should also be familiar with the unique challenges and opportunities of working in a law firm environment.

In this capacity, the Legal Project Manager will:

  • Work with the LPM team that offers best in class LPM support in an AMLaw 50 firm;
  • Help develop and implement the firm's LPM strategy;
  • Train and coach lawyers and staff on LPM best practices;
  • Manage/Implement the firm's LPM software and tools;
  • Oversee the firm's LPM process for assigned practice groups;
  • Work with partners and clients to develop and manage project budgets and timelines;
  • Identify and implement process improvements;
  • Help create tracking and reporting best practices; and
  • Work beyond scheduled hours as needed to help achieve goals and deadlines

Proficiencies:

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to interact effectively with attorneys and firm professional staff at all levels;
  • Strong legal project management skills with experience in a legal project management role;
  • Exceptional oral communication skills and ability to work independently and be proactive;
  • Strong financial analysis skills, including the ability to prepare concise reports to assist firm management in assessing the effectiveness and financial impact of managed engagements;
  • Experience with pricing of legal services, including a strong working knowledge of non-hourly pricing models (alternative fee arrangements);
  • Ability to apply mathematical and basic statistical concepts, including fractions, percentages, and ratios, to large volumes of data to reach meaningful conclusions;
  • Superior organizational skills, including the ability maintain and track large volumes of data, prioritize workload, coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and ability to be flexible and adapt to change;
  • Superior level of attention to detail - ensures the integrity/accuracy of the data;
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and written communication;
  • Ability to learn, leverage and use additional programs, including LPM, Pricing, budgeting and financial management software. Working knowledge of legal services financial and billing systems preferred; and
  • Ability to protect and maintain confidential and sensitive information.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree (required); and
  • 5+ years related experience, preferably in an Am Law50 Firm.
