Huntsman is seeking a Process Development Chemist supporting the Advanced Materials Division located in Los Angeles, California. This position will report to the Process Development Manager.

As the Process Development Chemist, you will:

  • Act as process owner in projects, taking results into production.
  • Work as a team member at process/product introduction.
  • Possess recognized knowledge of chemical processes at an international level across multiple sites.
  • Knowledge of product application and business aspects in several market segments
  • Propose solutions to improve productivity, EHS, PSM, quality, and reliability.
  • Follow all Quality policies and procedures.
  • Be a valuable point of contact for our internal customers like PM's, Marketing, Technology & Innovation, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering
  • Be an efficient point of contact for all colleagues in the global PD organization.
  • Follow all EHS policies and procedures.

Major Tasks

  • Participate in New Products Introduction (NPI) and scale-up, from Innovation to Production, including making and testing adhesives and similar products.
  • Support requalification projects due to the replacement of raw materials, suppliers, site transfers, process changes, etc.
  • Support the Manufacturing department with process improvement projects and troubleshooting, including root cause analysis.
  • Interact with internal and external customers, including Customer Service, our Texas-based technical teams, and Quality.
  • Provide technical support to QC laboratory personnel.
  • Manage lab inventories.

Required Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Education:

  • BSc in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or relevant discipline.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years in an innovation laboratory, production or process development area, preferably in a multinational (industrial) company.

Know-how/Skills:

  • Knowledge of organic chemistry, polymeric chemistry, and epoxy chemistry.
  • Knowledge of chemical engineering and understanding of chemical production process a plus.
  • Knowledge of analytical methodology and proficiency with statistical principles.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Project Management skills a plus
  • Strong work ethic.

  • Work effectively with other associates.
  • Strong Innovation, Analytical & Conceptual thinking
  • Knowledge in reaction kinetics and modelling
  • Good knowledge of safe laboratory practices

What can we offer you?

  • Salary range $78,200 - $105,000 per year.

The compensation range reflects the Company's reasonable expectation at the time of posting. We consider a number of business-related factors when making individual compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training.
