Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our geoenvironmental and geotechnical practice in our Costa Mesa, California office. The position will apply engineering skills to projects involving landfills, mines, brownfields redevelopment, and other water and waste containment systems while further developing the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Civil design, landfill design, and site layout;
  • Geotechnical engineering analyses such as slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, seismic, and seepage;
  • Geotechnical and environmental site characterization including exploration oversight in the field;
  • Shallow and deep foundation design including bearing capacity, settlement, axial, and lateral capacity;
  • Developing, installing, and managing instrumentation monitoring systems;
  • Project/task management and proposal preparation support;
  • Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates, and permit applications;
  • Fieldwork associated with design and construction services;
  • Monitoring civil construction projects; and
  • Based on your current level of experience, you may be asked to take on task-level or project management responsibilities, along with business development, and staff mentoring tasks.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E.) (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Strong fundamentals in geotechnical engineering theory and practice. (required)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related software. (required)
  • Experience with modeling/design tools such as AUTOCAD, Slope/W, Seep/W, Sigma/W, Slide2D, Slide3D, PLAXIS 2D, LPILE, and gINT; (preferred)
  • Regular fieldwork and overnight travel. (required).
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified California locations below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum: $93,875/yearly / Maximum: $122,040/yearly (Costa Mesa)
