Responsibilities

The Contested Environment System Analysis group is seeking a Principal-level Radiation Analysis Engineer to support cross-disciplinary teams to solve complex radiation transport and analysis challenges.

He or she will need to work across organizations to support existing programs and identify new opportunities.

Candidates should have significant hands-on experience with radiation transport modeling and translating model results into practical implications.

The candidate will be expected to work effectively in a team environment, mentor junior engineers, and communicate progress and results through published reports and presentations.

This role requires at least 50% time on-site in Cambridge, MA.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a BS and 12+ years of experience or an M.S. and 9+ years of experience, or a PhD and 6+ years of experience with a degree in electrical engineering, nuclear engineering, physics, or a related field. Required skills include:

    Proficient with use of MCNP or similar Monte Carlo radiation transport tools
  • Experience interpreting environment details to produce the right system models, and translating model results to actionable feedback for system designers
  • Comfortable leading large teams to achieve complex tasks while maintaining cost and schedule
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with model preparation and results through technical report writing and presentations
  • Ability to participate in occasional travel to off-site locations will be required, less than 10%, typically less than one week in duration

Preferred:

  • Expert in the use of MCNP
  • Familiar with other nuclear environment tools, such as SIRE2, IRENE, SPIET-D, and/or FAB4DA
  • Expert in transport of high-energy photons and neutrons in real-world engineering environments, including influence on system design
  • Expert in interactions of radiation with semiconductor devices and packages
  • Able to translate system requirements into specific modeling campaigns, including identifying what reactions need to be included and what level of fidelity is required to meet requirements
  • Current DoD Top Secret or DoE Q clearance

This applicant must be able to obtain a Security Clearance which requires US citizenship.
