JOB OVERVIEW:

Corporate Counsel IP and Contracts leads the management and oversight of Blue Diamond Growers' intellectual property portfolio, consisting of domestic and international trademarks, copyrights, and contractual agreements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Oversees the protection of Blue Diamond Growers' intellectual property portfolios and rights.
  • Provides expertise in negotiating contracts and partnering directly with various internal business clients.
  • Prepares and maintains applicable IP contract forms and/or clauses; draft responses to office actions.
  • Supports execution of Company IP strategies, including patent filing and product clearance.
  • Manages trademark oppositions, cancellations, and other intellectual property disputes;
  • Provides support to outside counsel in litigation matters.;
  • Develop and implement streamlined legal processes to mitigate risk while enhancing the business, in line with the Company's improvement initiatives.
  • Assists with developing and continuously improving best-in-class employment law practices, procedures, and policies.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Juris Doctor(ate) Degree from an ABA Accredited law school.
  • 6-7 years of experience with corporate and commercial contracts.
  • Admitted to the California State Bar.
  • A mixture of relevant experience in a top-tier law firm and a corporate legal department.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to foster relationships, influence and collaborate with internal stakeholders.
  • Proactive, strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks.
  • Career track of progressive, documented accomplishments with a broad diversity of experiences.
  • Some travel may be required
  • Travel up to 20% depending on tradeshow volume and regional market responsibilities.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

  • Strong Law School academic record.
  • Excellent planning and organization skills, including the ability to manage a number of projects concurrently and strong attention to detail.
  • Experience implementing compliance programs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; positive and driven attitude.
  • Able to work well under pressure and maintain all deadlines, and be able to adapt to multiple, conflicting and/or shifting deadlines.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work "hands-on," as required.
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively.
