Overview

Oak Grove Technologies has Explosives Instructors, Technicians, and Fabricator openings at the Hazardous Devices School in Huntsville, Alabama. These are full-time positions that come with full medical, dental, and vision plans including a 401K match up to 4%.

Minimum Work Experience:

* 5+ years of recent operational experience as either an active duty military EOD Technician or a HDS certified Public Safely Bomb Technician and certified bomb squad member or a certified Federal bomb technician.

* Position requires a Top Secret clearance; however, persons meeting requirements may be hired without clearance.

Responsibilities

    Deliver and present FBI Basic, Recertification, and Advanced training and curricula to HDS students
  • Demonstrate proper and safe use of equipment used in classrooms and training exercises.
  • Lead and conducts classroom, practical problem exercises, and explosives range training consistent with established course curricula and in conformance with applicable rules and explosive site safety plans.
  • Assist other instructors and curriculum design specialists in drafting, updating, and reviewing lesson plans for existing and proposed courses.
  • Follows HDS standard operating procedures, to include the use of explosives and energetic tools. Follow HDS and Redstone Arsenal safety practices and standards.
  • Work with students and provide informal and formal evaluations of progress and feedback to students.
  • Assist Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Fabricators and Technicians in preparing and setting up IED training aids and equipment for use in course exercises.
  • Perform routine, operator level maintenance.
  • Maintain proficiency in knowledge, skills, and abilities to be capable of providing all manners of IED defeat training from a Basic level to Advanced Training.
  • Maintain knowledge of all applicable safety and training rules and regulations applicable to HDS training and training operations.
  • Maintain knowledge of current IED tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), trends in the use of commercial and home-made explosives, and trends in the use of chemical, biological, and nuclear explosive threats.
  • Assist other instructors and curriculum design specialists with writing scenarios based on current tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) incorporating an understanding of IED/UXO functioning while implementing weapons technical intelligence (WTI) and tactical forensic exploitation into training tasks and devices.
  • Assist in the proper transport and storage of IED training devices, materials, equipment, and supplies in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, methods, and explosives site safety plans.
  • Maintain accountability of issued HDS training aid inventory, equipment, supplies, and materials.
  • Serves as either a Primary or Assistant Instructor, as assigned.
  • May assist in explosives-related research projects conducted under the direction of the FBI.
  • Explosives instructors must be able to perform strenuous physical tasks in loading and unloading explosives materials and equipment that can weigh approximately 80 pounds or more.
  • Lifting and movement of boxes of training materials for classes can result in heavy exertion by the instructor.
  • Work occasionally involves long periods of standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
Qualifications

  • Possess at least five (5) years of experience as a Bomb Technician with a graduate certificate from the Hazardous Devices School (HDS) or Naval School of Explosive Ordnance Disposal with no more than five (5) years separated from an accredited public Bomb Squad or United States Military EOD Unit
  • Status as a current HDS civilian contract instructor is considered to satisfy this requirement Exceptions can be made based on qualifications as determined appropriate by HDS
  • Explosives Instructor should possess current or recent instructor certification from the Department of Defense of the FBI or submit evidence of comparable instructional experience and training commensurate with such certification
  • Possess demonstrated experience inwriting lesson plans and assisting in curriculum development, preferably related to explosives training, render safe operations, or related subjects
  • Experienced in leading and conducting explosive range operations in accordance with HDS or NAVSCOLEOD standard operating procedures
  • Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform practical problem training in a realistic response environment that address full spectrum render safe and disposal operations related to improvised explosive devices (IEDs), improvised incendiary devices (IIDs), and the initial steps for response to a weapon of mass destruction (WMD)
  • Possess the aptitude to build realistic IED training aids that incorporate electric fuzing systems, non-electric fuzing systems, or a combination thereof
