Job Description

As a Senior Software Developer, you are responsible for the development and update of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), creation and development of automation capabilities, and troubleshooting and resolving issues with applications or code. Document software and application defects using a bug tracking system and report defects to software or web developers. Create and maintain databases of known defects. May participate in software design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, operational characteristics, product designs, and schedules.

  • Employ software development techniques and methodologies to solve analytical challenges.
  • Keen interest in learning and using the latest software tools, methods, and technologies
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Review, modify, and deploy existing IT solutions, user applications, databases, and other IT capabilities.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable and secure Azure solutions. Conduct thorough analysis of requirements, identify potential issues, provide technical guidance, and communicate tasks and plans to customers and other technical staff.
  • Mentor and coach other technical personnel on the team
  • Promote the use of automation, agile, DevSecOps, and lean practices across the team

Location and Travel Details

This is a hybrid position, with 1-2 days onsite a week at one of the following locations:

  • Ft. Belvoir, VA
  • Adelphi, MD
  • Aberdeen, MD

Security Clearance and Citizenship Requirements

Must possess an active Secret Clearance and maintain a Secret Clearance.


Profile of Success

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience as a software developer or a similar role.
  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent security certification
  • Working knowledge of Agile project management tools, such as, Azure DevOps, GitHub, or Jira
  • Experience with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Transport Layer Security (TLS)
  • Experience with SOAP, WCF, and REST APIs
  • Experience with Object Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and methods
  • Experience with Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) technologies
  • Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) and enterprise database engines
  • Experience with automated testing patterns and tools such as Moq, NUnit, or Cypress
  • Understanding of software design patterns and anti-patterns
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.

Desirable Skills

  • Intermediate or higher Azure certification (e.g., Azure Developer, Azure Data Engineer, or Azure Solutions Architect)
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Visual Studio 2022, Visual Studio Code, Azure Data Studio
  • Experience with C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, PowerShell, and T-SQL
  • Experience implementing PowerShell Cmdlets and System.DirectoryServices namespace
  • Experience with Azure Graph API, Azure Resource Management (ARM) API
  • Experience with Azure CLI
