The South Eastern New York (SENY) Transmission Engineer (STE) will have the responsibility and accountability for providing engineering oversight for the Transmission assets in the SENY region and to insure maintenance activities are conducted as/per NYPA standard practices in turn supporting reliable operation. The STE will assess emerging work and coordinate activities with Engineering and Project Management on an as required basis. The STE will be responsible for developing long term maintenance contracts, overseeing work and procedures and performing audits at all the sites.
The STE will provide engineering expertise to support operations, maintenance,and capital improvements on NYPA/SENY transmission facilities. Major practice areas include: engineering analysis and design, transmission engineering, electrical and system protection engineering, geotechnical engineering, and general civil engineering. Understand, communicate, execute tasks (e.g. provide input, review, coordinate, etc.), and/or implement specific elements of the New York Power Authority's (NYPA's) NERC Reliability Standards Compliance program as defined in Business Unit Policies and Procedures established to support Corporate Policies CP 10-4 and CP 2-9.
The SENY assets under the responsibility of the STE include, but are not limited to, all components of Y-49 including equipment at Sprainbrook, North and South transition station, HPFF cables and SCFF submarine cable and East Garden City, NYPA owned substations from the Low side of the GSU at the 500 plant and Flynn, Astoria II Annex GIS substation, Q 35 L&M and PURS plants, spare equipment for Y-49 located on Shore Rd and at Shoreham.
