Job Summary
The Academic Support Coordinator (ASC) works with program leadership on the full cycle of student recruitment through alumni status and interacts with interested stakeholders and administration through various methods and means. The ASC will contribute to process improvements and implementation in their perspective areas. They will be responsible for a variety of administrative and program delivery duties, including student course enrollment, milestone markers, student recruitment, admissions, and student professional development.

This position is within the department of Psychology in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences (BBS) and provides excellent customer service in coordinating the academic support processes for the PhD programs in Cognition and Neuroscience (CN) and Psychology.
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Four or more years of administrative office experience in an academic environment. Excellent computer skills with various programs and ability to work with specialized databases. Outstanding customer service skills.

Preferred Education and Experience
HIGHLY PREFERRED:
  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • Preferred experience working to support higher education programs and supporting students in their academic programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Manages program inquiries and program admission, including program recruitment.
  • Work with the admission's committee, facilitating and planning doctoral student visiting days.
  • Registers students each semester, and updates student degree plans at the completion of a semester and during the enrollment periods.
  • Collaborates with department staff, faculty and students for special projects as needed, including implementing professional development for doctoral students.
  • Plays a key role supporting departmental ASCs, including working toward centralizing processes.
  • Manages and tracks student pre-dissertation milestones: project submissions and paperwork, including extension requests and approvals.
  • Coordinates and tracks dissertation process: pre-proposal, proposal approval, defended and committee formed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Information
Remote Work:
After the appropriate training period, this position may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. Must be located within the DFW Area for prompt arrival on campus with a 24-hour notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.

Travel:
Occasional travel may occur to conferences or trainings for professional development or program needs.
