We have an opening for a collaborative and self-motivated Field Engineer to join our team.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review, read, and understand project documents (structural, civil, architectural, and MEP drawings).
  • Working knowledge or desire to learn the operation of total stations, data collectors, prism assemblies, and Trimble Business Center for construction layout.
  • Proficiency or desire to learn the use of an auto level for transferring benchmarks and elevations. Proper use of field book for recordation.
  • Lay out foundations, column lines, offset lines, and wall lines.
  • Establish and verify temporary benchmarks and control lines throughout the project.
  • Perform as-builts for structural components when necessary and identify conflicts.
  • Collecting underground utilities and other building components for use in as-built documents.
  • Perform duties as directed by Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent
  • Adhere to Hourigan's on-site Safety procedures.
  • Participate in the Hourigan Safety and Health Management System (SHMS) by committing to safe work practices, raising concerns, attending and applying safety and health training, and eliminating hazards within your capability and control and the help of safety staff.

Qualifications and Experience:


  • Understanding commercial construction means and methods, construction layout, and best industry practices
  • Industry Experience: 3+ years
  • Ability to read construction drawings
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with construction management software preferred. Experience with Procore and Bluebeam preferred.
