Summary

Position Summary

Under the supervision and direction of the RN and/or Nurse in Charge, the CNA Apprentice provides direct care to patients. All candidates must complete the CASAS reading assessment. Screenings will include CASAS. Interviews will be held on 6/7, 9:00 AM - noon and 6/11 from noon until 3:00 PM at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

1. Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred with the exception of applicant who is attending high school or dual enrollment in CNA program and high school equivalency program

2. License/Certifications: Attendance and participation in Maine State approved CNA program which prepares the Apprentice to sit for the State of Maine CNA Certification Exam. BLS required at completion of program. CPI training required (provided by employer)

3. Experience: N/A

4. Effective interpersonal skills

5. Able to communicate with patients who may have confusion or dementia

6. Must enjoy diversional activity, be creative and energetic

7. Must be able to strictly maintain confidentiality

8. Ability to maintain professional manner even under stressful situations
