Job Summary:The Apex Plant is seeking a dedicated Safety Supervisor to oversee all safety operations. This pivotal role involves coordinating the onboarding of new hires, conducting annual safety refreshers, and leading monthly safety meetings. The Safety Supervisor will be instrumental in implementing safety initiatives and providing robust plant support.

Key Responsibilities:

MSHA Regulation Compliance:

  • Conduct and document employee training in line with MSHA standards.
  • Keep records as per company policy.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents within the designated area.
  • Collaborate with Health and Safety on Workers' Compensation reports and claims.
  • Aid in compiling reports for various agencies.
  • Certify training through proper documentation.
  • Educate staff on safety procedures and regulations.
  • Facilitate audits, including MSHA inspections.

Safety Program Leadership:

  • Engage in plant and regional safety initiatives.
  • Inspect sites and equipment regularly.
  • Manage safety reward programs and ensure consistent application.
  • Review and audit health and safety protocols.
  • Organize training sessions with the management team.
  • Develop Job Safety Analysis and safe work procedures with managers.
  • Promote safety culture actively on-site.

Compliance and Best Practices:

  • Influence safety considerations in capital projects and process modifications.
  • Uphold the Industrial Hygiene program standards.
  • Establish and maintain safety best practices.
  • Undertake additional tasks as needed.

SQF Responsibilities:

  • Maintain SQF standards and adhere to FDA regulations.
  • Support and lead SQF and safety awareness initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of safety and SQF adherence.
  • Complete and demonstrate comprehension of SQF training.
  • Ensure ongoing SQF education for all staff.
  • Participate in compliance audits.

Physical Requirements:

  • Capable of performing assigned tasks.
  • Able to navigate all areas of the plant, including high and confined spaces.
  • Work primarily in a lime/mineral environment with exposure to various conditions.
  • Engage in physical activities such as standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • BS degree in Environmental, Engineering, Chemistry, Natural Science, or other related technical degree, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of three (3) years management experience in industrial environmental where safety is a high priority.
