Responsibilities

We are hiring for an experienced Applications Programmer at Stennis Space Center. This position is onsite in Hancock, MS and has the possibility to be a hybrid role both on/offsite.

You will be working on the Meteorological and Oceanography (METOC) Micro-Services Enterprise - Mission Planning (MOSE-MP) team as part of the Next Generation Mission Planning Enterprise in a Scaled Agile (SAFe) software development environment. We develop METOC micro-services and NPM packages to provide timely, relevant and accurate data to the mission planner integrated into the aviation mission planning context (Navy and Air Force) as part of the larger, program-of-record enterprise.

What you'll do:

    Work as a front-end developer with in a SAFe development team to support 2D and 3D visualizations of various METOC forecast and observation layers and derived products from multiple authoritative weather source providers for modernized, next-generation mission planning.
  • Develop UI capabilities, be responsive to and collaborate for design of UI/UX styling guidance.
  • Create unit tests and provide support to meet requirements for CI/CD practices.
  • Attend daily standups, actively participate in team and cross-team collaboration activities.
  • Review and understand tasking for resolving UI-related bugs and deficiencies.
Qualifications

What you'll need:

  • Education: 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
  • Clearance: Active Secret clearance
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript using React, React Redux, ESLint, NPM, Yarn, Git.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes, RabbitMQ.
  • Experience with development within a DevSecOps enterprise environment and Agile (SAFe, Scrum).
  • Practical experience with Google Material UI, Jest, endpoint testing (e.g. Postman), software development and collaboration tools (e.g. Atlassian).

Nice to have:

  • Optional skills / background: OGC Web Map Service / Web Feature Service, Yalc, OpenLayers, CesiumJS, SonarQube, Jenkins, familiarity with METOC data and service providers

Target Salary Range
$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
