Overview

Edgewater Federal Solutions is currently seeking an IT Infrastructure Lead responsible for the design, installation, maintenance, and retirement of the systems and personnel that are at the core of the organization. The services under the responsibility of the IT Infrastructure Lead are typically the underpinning (or supporting) services, or infrastructure, which enable the delivery of customer-facing IT services.

This is a hybrid work environment, reporting to the Department of Energy office in Germantown, Maryland.

Responsibilities
    Leads the development, evaluation and implementation of new and innovative principles, processes, and applications.
  • Leads team responsible for Windows and RHEL system administration, networking, and procurement.
  • Manages Infrastructure Team staff.
  • Analyzes complex local and wide area network systems and/or customer network environment, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting operating systems and protocol suites, and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices.
  • Leads the investigation and resolution for interoperability problems in order to ensure operation across all platforms.
  • Review system resources to optimize the services provided based on application behavior patterns.
  • Configures and maintains systems in a variety of environments.
  • Supports acquisition and implementation of hardware and software.
  • Responsible for creating proposals and cost estimates, analyses of alternatives, feasibility studies, and decision papers.
  • Provides recommendations and technical expertise support to program leadership.
  • Serves as technical project manager, for Infrastructure related tasking and projects.
  • Creates and manages full life-cycle management plans.
  • Partner with various IT, business, and client groups in support of critical business applications.
Qualifications
  • US CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIRED
  • ACTIVE/CURRENT TS or Q CLEARANCE REQUIRED
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, Technical, Information Systems, or similar
  • Experience managing projects to include scheduling and collaborating with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience managing medium-sized teams.
  • 8+ years of experience and must have a good understanding of server technologies. This includes operating systems, physical and virtual servers, storage and backups, and disaster recovery.
  • Drive continuous improvement and introduction of IT 'best practices' into all areas of process, metrics, and performance.
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills.
  • Experience providing recommendations, guidance, and leadership on improving IT operations and driving efficiencies.
  • ITIL Service Management qualification is a plus.
  • Requires limited direction and guidance with most tasks.
  • Experience with the following technologies is required: Network technologies including firewalls, network switches, TCP/IP and IPv6.
  • Preferably a certification in one of the following: PMP, ITIL, PMI, MSCE, MCSE, CISSP, MCSA, CIA, CPA, CISA
