Senior Revenue Accountant
ASC 606 | CPA Preferred | Pharmaceutical/Clinical Research Industry | Hybrid

We are working with a pharmaceutical company in the Triangle looking to add a Senior Revenue Accountant to their team! This individual will be responsible to lead initiatives to improve and enhance the Company's gross to net revenue recognition process including related data compilation, reporting, risk mitigation, and internal controls. The Senior Revenue Accountant will support the revenue accounting function, specifically the analysis of gross-to-net allowances, related month-end close and reporting, trend analyses and forecasting. This position requires a strong focus on technical accounting and the ability to stay updated on relevant standards and regulations.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and post journal entries and account reconciliations specifically related to gross-to-net revenue recognition, including complex transactions and accruals/reserves.
  • Review and determine the appropriate accounting treatment for revenue-related transactions, including contracts, agreements, and specialized revenue streams.
  • Calculate and communicate monthly net sales projections, KPIs, and trend data
  • Assist with forecast and budget gross to net estimation processes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align revenue recognition policies with business strategies and objectives.
  • Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual net revenue closing procedures, including the timely documentation of assigned reconciliations and rollforwards.
  • Conduct technical accounting research and provide guidance on revenue recognition matters, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 guidelines.
  • Support internal and external auditors during interim reviews and year-end audits, addressing any revenue-related inquiries or issues.
  • Identify areas for process improvements in revenue accounting and contribute to their implementation.
  • Maintain knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant accounting regulations related to revenue recognition.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required
  • Active CPA license, MBA or equivalent is preferred
  • 3+years of experience in public accounting or a public company in an accounting/finance role
  • Previous exposure to revenue recognition in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred (gross-to-net accounting)
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SEC, and PCAOB guidance and regulations for publicly traded companies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively tailor communications with senior management, external auditors, and various corporate departments, as necessary
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment
