POSITION SUMMARY:

The Security Technician will support implementation of site specific security policies and procedures as defined by Vigor to protect Vigor's employees, client/customers, visitors, real and personal property, government assets, and curtail opportunities for successful completion of criminal activities on Vigor property.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must live the Vigor Values every day
  • Candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Responsible for assisting in daily site security activities
  • Enforces security requirements defined by the company
  • Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points
  • Prevention or detection of intrusion, unauthorized entry or activity, vandalism or trespass on Vigor property
  • Protects company and third party information from unauthorized disclosures
  • Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property, misappropriation or concealment of Vigor tools and equipment, or other valuable items
  • Sound alarms or call police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons
  • Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards
  • Evaluates and notifies building support staff of maintenance concerns as discovered in the course of duties
  • Provide assistance to employees, customers, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner

JOB SCOPE:

Operates within general parameters of the business unit, but must use sound judgment when carrying out job responsibilities. Act as a visual deterrent to Criminal Activity with the objective of maintaining a safe and secure environment for Vigor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:None

INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:

This position coordinates efforts with directors, managers, supervisors at several levels in the business unit. The position represents the Company through formal and informal interactions with employees and other visitors to the facility.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be a well-organized, detail oriented self-starter
  • Ability to exercise sounds judgment, work well independently, prioritize duties and follow through tasks to completion
  • Proficient computer knowledge in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Assess)
  • Ability to handle competing priorities and deadlines effectively
  • Must be able to handle the pressure of constant interruptions
  • Ability to read and understanding relevant security documents, procedures, and methodologies

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High school degree or equivalent required
  • Basic security experience supporting physical security activities preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

  • None.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is conducted in a dynamic, fast-paced office setting with moderate noise. May be required to work more than 8-hour shifts and weekend work. There may be local travel and out-of-town travel (including air travel) up to 10% of the time with notice. Must be able to walk to and from job sites. Must be able to climb inclined stairways and vertical ladders. Must be able to enter confined areas. Must be able to bend, squat, crawl and twist. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While in production areas, the individual will be exposed to all weather conditions, noise, dust and odors.
