HIRING RANGE: $2,013.13 - $2,466.16 Biweekly
FULL SALARY RANGE: $2,013.13 - $2,919.19 Biweekly

The purpose of this position is to supervise the operations of the box office at the Event Center. This is accomplished by ensuring high level customer service, training and supervising staff, resolving problems, supervising the box office, and serving as administrator for the ticketing software. This position works closely with Director of Booking & venue leadership. Other duties may include ensuring proper cash handling, creating and reviewing reports, tracking ticket sales, and assisting with auditing event settlement reports. This position provides direction to other employees.

Please Note: This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule that includes working evenings, nights, weekends and some holidays.
Essential Functions

  • Supervises staff and third-party staffing by coordinating work activities, developing schedules, providing feedback, and evaluating performance.
  • Plans events by executing potential seat scaling and building scaling for confirmed contracts.
  • Performs as ticket operations lead for venue tenants by assisting with ticket programming.
  • Serves as a liaison between the box office, the promoter, and Ticketmaster by communicating with lessees regarding ticketing needs, event set-ups and pricing; verifying that the event has been set up according to the promoter's requirements, providing daily reports of sales receipts, ensuring that Ticketmaster phone orders are distributed to customers with proper documentation, and serving as the database administrator for the ticketing software.
  • Controls financial reporting functions by ensuring full and accurate ticket sales, verifying the preparation of deposits, and making daily deposits, establishing ticketing and event control procedures, overseeing the work of third-party staff, reconciling accounting records, and approving timesheets.
  • Acts as a liaison between the box office, event center staff, patrons, and sports tenants by providing patrons assistance with seating or ticket issues, deploying ticket scanners, developing event briefings, and assisting with the season ticket renewal process.
  • Provides training for assigned staff and contractors in the use of a computerized ticketing system.
  • Oversees seat inventory at the event center by distributing complimentary tickets, opening seats for public sale, and distributing seat allocation in an optimal manner.
  • Compiles information and generates administrative reports to ensure accurate suite usage, generating reports for sales, event settlements, and tracking of event attendance.
Job Requirements

Education & Experience
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

  • High School diploma or equivalent plus three (3) years of relevant work experience
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Knowledge of:
  • City rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Supervisory techniques and methods.

  • Professional and major amateur sports and entertainment events.

  • Ticket selling and box office operations.

  • Basic accounting principles and procedures.


Skill in:
  • Establishing and maintaining working relationships with professional and support staff, vendors, the public, and City employees

Special Requirements:
  • Must possess a valid Texas Class C driver's license.


Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Standard office environment.

  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods.

  • Ability to walk, lift, carry, push/pull as needed.

  • Ability to operate city or personal vehicle for business purposes.

Supplemental Information

Reading

Intermediate - Ability to read papers, periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in high school up to college. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.

Math
Basic - Ability to perform the four basic arithmetic operations. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in elementary school up to high school. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.

Writing
Intermediate - Ability to write reports, prepare business letters, expositions, and summaries with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in high school up to college. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.

Managerial
Receives general directions. The employee normally performs the job by following established standard operating procedures and/or policies. The employee may choose the appropriate procedure or policy. Performance is reviewed periodically.

Supervisory / Organizational Control
Work requires functioning as a lead worker performing essentially the same work as those directed, and includes overseeing work quality, training, instructing, and scheduling work.
