Job Description
We are seeking a talented and experienced Controller for a contract-to-hire opportunity in the manufacturing sector for our client. The Controller will be responsible for reviewing and assessing current processes, performing accounting transactions dating back to the beginning of the fiscal year, identifying process improvement opportunities, and assessing the necessary skills for future accounting hires.

Key Responsibilities:

Review and assess current accounting processes and procedures.
Reperform accounting transactions dating back to the beginning of the fiscal year (starting 8/1/23).
Identify and implement process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Assess required skills for future accounting roles and provide guidance on hiring needs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial processes align with business objectives.
Prepare and analyze financial reports, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.

Skills and Qualifications:

Strong background in GL accounting with experience in posting/reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and reclassifying entries as needed.
Solid understanding of cost accounting principles, including Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounting.
Knowledge of revenue recognition standards in a manufacturing environment.
Experience in financial reporting, analysis, and creating reports to support decision-making.
Ability to conduct clean-up activities, investigate discrepancies, and ask the right questions to resolve issues.
Process improvement mindset with experience in recommending and implementing process changes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and data analysis techniques.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior accounting or finance role, preferably in manufacturing.
Experience with ERP systems and financial software.

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
