In Fremont, CA, we serve global clients in telecom and datacom industries in providing innovative optical modules and subsystems to support our customer's next generation networks. We are looking for a Principal LCOS Engineer.

This person will be responsible for architecting, designing, developing, simulating, optimizing, testing, and debugging innovative LCOS based technologies and solutions that have high resolution, fast response times, and excellent optical performance for optical networking products. You will be responsible for leading these LCOS based products from concept to production, collaborating with other engineers, scientists, and customers, and ensuring the highest quality and performance of our products.

This person can work remotely, however, at least 30% travelling to Fremont is required.


What You Will Do

  • Architect, design, develop, simulate, test, debug, investigate and optimize and explore new LCOS silicon backplane designs and manufacturing processes with foundry
  • Design LCOS optical systems by optimizing pixel structures, liquid crystal material, backplane digital and analog circuit control for light phase modulation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance LCOS performance and reliability
  • Integrate LCOS displays into various optical packages, devices and modules
  • Create and maintain test plans, technical documents, reports, and presentations, generate engineering changes, release designs, conduct device and system performance evaluations, evaluate vendors, analyze issues and determine root cause
  • Validate LCOS performance metrics such as resolution, contrast ratio, and accuracy
  • Work closely with manufacturing partners to ensure consistent LCOS production performance and yields
  • Address any quality issues and optimize yield during mass production
  • Communicate findings, progress, and challenges effectively within the team
  • Provide technical support to customers and suppliers
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Optics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • At least 15 years of experience in LCD or LCOS design, debug, development and release
  • Proficiency in LCOS technology, including design principles and fabrication processes
  • Experience in LCoS silicon backplane and semiconductor chip design
  • Experience with high yield LCOS fabrication, packaging, and production
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze information, solve problems, and attention to detail


What Will Put You Ahead

  • PhD degree in Optics., Electrical Engineering, or related field related technical discipline
  • 20+ years of LCD, LCOS and semiconductor system design, simulation, and mass production
  • Experience on Semiconductor foundry screening and PDK design tool setup and administration
  • Ability to speak and communicate in Mandarin Chinese

For this role, we anticipate paying from $160K to $190K per year in base salary. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
