Celebrating a Century:

POSITION TITLE: Staff Scientist

POSITION SUMMARY:

Join our dynamic multi-institution consortium dedicated to leveraging computational methods for identifying drug repurposing candidates. As a Staff Scientist, you will primarily contribute to the construction and mining of biomedical knowledge graphs, utilizing advanced graph reasoning algorithms.

PREFERRED SKILLSET:

  • Proficiency in constructing and/or mining biomedical knowledge graphs.
  • Experience applying machine learning algorithms to biological data.
  • Ability to evaluate algorithm performance through the creation or adaptation of rigorous benchmarks.
  • Familiarity with drug discovery and/or drug repurposing processes.
  • Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within large interdisciplinary teams.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ph.D. in bioinformatics or a related scientific discipline, accompanied by a minimum of 2 years of postdoctoral or equivalent experience in cleaning, analyzing, and disseminating large biomedical datasets.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing data science techniques to generate novel and testable hypotheses.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position works in an office environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.

LOCATION: La Jolla, California

COMPENSATION: The expected hiring range for this position is $78,000 to $90,272 per year, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
