This is a position located at the J.J. Pickle Research Campus in North Austin.

Purpose
Interpret sedimentology of sediment cores collected offshore the Pacific Northwest, USA, to reconstruct earthquake history. Create a stratigraphic framework for turbidite paleoseismology.

Responsibilities

• Sedimentologic and potential geochemical analysis of sediment cores.
• Holocene stratigraphic framework offshore the Pacific Northwest, USA.
• Report results to stakeholders.

PhD in related field. Knowledge of quantitative characterization and interpretation of sedimentology/stratigraphy of continental margins.

PhD must have been obtained within 3 years of date of hire.

Familiarity with marine geology/geophysics techniques and datasets. Familiarity with turbidite paleoseismology. Subsurface/stratigraphic interpretation experience. Familiarity with Python programming language.

$65,000+ depending on qualifications.
