Description/Job Summary

Slitter Operator: Position Grade C

Position Objective

  • Operate slitter pre charting instructions.
  • Perform inspections and verifications
  • Per ISO Procedures


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate safe work habits.
  • Report unsafe acts or conditions to Sr. Lead.
  • Follow lock out when needed.
  • Attends all site training meetings.
  • Identify quality defects on slit reels.
  • Can RETAIN training provided for Slitter Operator job functions.
  • Complete paperwork.
  • Can locate and follow Procedures and Specifications that are put in place for Slitting Operation job functions.
  • Maintain housekeeping and housekeeping checklist during shift.
  • Comply with Recycling Program.
  • Can identify all E-Stop locations for the slitter and packing shuttle.
  • Comply with Plant safety regulations and good manufacturing practices.
  • Ensures all ISO Procedures are followed.
  • Ensures all Housekeeping is being performed and maintained.
  • Ensures Recycle Program is followed.
  • Must have regular, reliable attendance and willing to work outside the regular schedule as required.
  • Willing to handle job stress and interact with others in the workplace.


Physical Activity Required For This Position

  • Climbing, ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.
  • Balancing, maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces.
  • Stooping, bending body downward and forward by bending spine and waist.
  • Kneeling, bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Crouching, bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Crawling, moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
  • Reaching, extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Example: reaching for material or handle on item.
  • Standing, particularly for sustained periods of time. Example: Watch slitter run
  • Walking, moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.

  • Pulling, using upper extremities to exert force in order to drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Lifting, raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. DEGREE OF LIFTING:5-25 lbs, 26-50 lbs
  • Fingering, picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm as in handling.
  • Grasping, applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm.
  • Feeling, perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
  • Hearing, perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40 db. Loss @ 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz and 2,000 Hz with or without correction. Ability to receive verbal communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.
  • Repetitive motions, substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers


Required Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Previous production experience.


Slitter Operator: Position Grade B

  • Make adjustments to equipment to minimize rejects.
  • Keep lines running in case of absence of Sr. Operator.
  • Troubleshoot web breaks.
  • Assist B & C operators.
  • Reset automated alarms and operate automated equipment.
  • Maintain housekeeping and Housekeeping Checklist during shift.
  • Comply and Enforce Plant safety regulations and good manufacturing practices.
  • Comply with Recycling Program.
  • Leads Pre Shift Meeting
  • Coordinates EWO's with Extrusion Lead.
  • Ensures all ISO Procedures are followed.
  • Ensures all Housekeeping is being performed and maintained.
  • Ensures all indusial follow Plant, Company Safety Rules and Procedures.
  • Ensures Recycle Program is followed.
  • Coordinates Equipment break down with maintenance during shift. (nights and weekends)

Position Objective
  • Operate slitter pre charting instructions.
  • Perform inspections and verifications
  • Per ISO Procedures


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate safe work habits.
  • Report unsafe acts or conditions to Slitting Specialist.
  • Ensure equipment is in safe working order.
  • Coordinate lock out when needed.
  • Ensure all employees perform work in a safe manner.
  • Attends all site training meetings.
  • Inspect packing area to ensure quality.
  • Coordinate with Extrusion on quality issues.
  • Identify mechanical and electrical issues that contribute to quality.
  • Covers "ALL" Sr. Lead Slitter job duties when needed.
  • Troubleshoot web breaks.
  • Assist A, B, C operators when needed.
  • Operator forklift and maintain up to date forklift license.
  • Troubleshoot automated systems.
  • Comply and Enforce Plant safety regulations and good manufacturing practices.
  • Ensures Housekeeping and Housekeeping Checklist are maintained and completed throughout the shift.
  • Leads Pre Shift Meeting
  • Coordinates EWO's with Extrusion Lead.
  • Ensures all ISO Procedures are followed.
  • Ensures all Housekeeping is being performed and maintained.
  • Ensures all induvials follow Plant, Company Safety Rules and Procedures.
  • Ensures Recycle Program is followed.
  • Coordinates Equipment break down with maintenance during shift. (nights and weekends)
