Looking for an Audiovisual Consultant.

The Audiovisual Consultant develops audiovisual detailed designs and product specifications on assigned projects. This may also include technical studies, facility condition assessments, and client needs assessments of audiovisual systems. This position is responsible for managing assigned projects through scoping, pricing, staffing, and ensuring that projects are produced on time, within budget, and of the highest technical quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts planning meetings to determine the scope of the project, current and future needs, process and work flow, and client expectations
  • Coordinates with the project manager and/or client to develop the audiovisual scope of work on assigned projects
  • Develops design approaches and concepts on assigned projects and seeks assistance from senior technical staff as needed
  • Researches, evaluates, designs & specifies products or equipment to meet the client's identified needs
  • Participates in the preparation and maintenance of project budgets for audiovisual systems
  • Works with Technology Associates to develop functional diagrams and construction documents for audiovisual systems on assigned projects
  • Assists in the communication with the owner, architect, and contractors as needed
  • Reviews audiovisual shop drawings, records changes, and provides feedback to designers based on project specifications
  • Conducts site visits during construction to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications, owner expectations, and building codes
  • Actively participates in professional organizations and/or client groups where the technical reputation
    and image of the firm may be enhanced
  • Maintains a focus on keeping up with industry trends and changes with continued self-education and training
  • Acts and performs activities inside and outside the office consistent with ethical engineering standards

An ideal candidate will possess the following requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or relevant degree AND five years of applicable experience OR eight years of direct experience in the design, application, and/or administration of audiovisual systems
  • AVIXA CTS required
  • CTS-D strongly preferred
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of audiovisual systems design centered around commercial, healthcare, and sports facilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of AVIXA, BICSI TDMM, NEC, NESC, and other industry related codes
    and standards
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local construction laws and regulation
  • Basic accounting knowledge and how to create and maintain budgets
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of Revit, AutoCAD, and Visio
  • Interpersonal Skills - ability to interact positively and work effectively with others
  • Comprehension - ability to understand information, ideas, and direction presented in writing and/or verbally communicated
  • Written Communication Skills - ability to clearly deliver a message through written words using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Speech Clarity - ability to speak clearly and in a common language so that others can understand you
  • Detail-Oriented - ability to achieve accuracy and thoroughness when accomplishing a task; pays attention to details and is able to understand the cause of a certain outcome
  • Judgement and Decision-Making Skills - ability to make reasoned judgments that are logical and well thought out; constructively questioning and analyzing information in order to make the best conclusion
  • Technical Writing Skills - skilled in the area of summarizing or explaining technical information in a clear, concise, and accurate way, communicating the point intended
  • Presentation Skills - effective in a variety of presentation settings both inside and outside the organization; commands attention and can manage group processes during the presentation; can change tactics midstream when something isn't working
  • Organizational Skills - can marshal resources (people, funding, material, support, etc.) to get things done; can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish goals; uses resources effectively and efficiently; arranges information and files in a useful manner
  • Persuasion - ability to help others understand one's point of view
