Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

  • Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care.
  • Takes patient history, performs physical examination, orders, and interprets tests, makes diagnoses, and institutes appropriate treatment programs.
  • Works in collaboration with staff physicians, house officers, nurses, and other medical care team members to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently.
  • Specific procedures are individually credentialed as indicated by training and experience.
  • The successful candidate will function as part of the anesthesia team in effort to optimize surgical throughput by creating a safe and patient-centered surgical experience.
  • Intake of patient history, performs physical examination, orders, and interprets tests, and coordinates plans with specialist relevant to an upcoming procedure.
  • Works in collaboration with staff physicians, house officers, nurses, and other care team members to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently.
  • Works collaboratively with internal and integrated APP team.

  • Bachelor's Degree. Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program. Requires good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills as well as organizational skills, familiarity with computers, and excellent analytical and decision- making skills. Ability to react to crisis situations quickly and effectively using department protocols and guidelines. -OR- Must be a master's prepared Registered Nurse who has graduated and taken the board certification within their chosen specialty. Requires licensure as a Certified Nurse Practitioner)
  • Current ACLS or BLS as required. Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required.
  • Previous experience in pre-screening, critical care, Pre-op and/or PACU with anesthesia background and knowledge highly preferred.

Preferred requirements:

* Must have a minimum of 2 years (5 or more preferred) of critical care or physician's clinic office experience.

* Must have experience working in a collaborative team environment.
