Overview

Responsible for coordinating schedules between Operations teams and Procurement to ensure the department's alignment with construction activities. Investigates and resolves issues with vendors, internal stakeholders and Procurement team on the sourcing, tracking, reporting, and expediting of goods and services for company projects. Aligns procurement activities to ensure project success and maintain consistent communication between the department and operations teams.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

    Serve as the liaison between Operations teams and Procurement on projects as assigned by Procurement Manager
  • Coordinate with the Strategic Sourcing team on current lead times and project specific needs to ensure schedules align
  • Utilize and offer continuous improvement suggestions for a proactive, systematic, and standardized approach to detect issues related to delivery, quantity, and product conformity
  • Lead project procurement related meetings created from a standard template, to coordinate with project teams on current needs, provide updates on materials and identify upcoming procurement activities
  • Coordinate with the Strategic Sourcing team on company keepsake inventory availability for assigned projects
  • Create and manage requests for proposals for materials not identified by the Strategic Sourcing team in a manner that aligns with project priorities and material availability
  • Consult with Procurement Manager on best direction for given project material needs related to price and lead time
  • Oversee vendors submittals related to equipment and materials and ensure the processes are being followed in a timely manner and resolve issues as they arise
  • Escalate issues with suppliers, delivery or quantity discrepancies to the Procurement Manager when appropriate
  • Work within procurement and engineering systems to provide detailed updates to all stakeholders on the status of supplier/contractor document submittals
  • Be aware of engineering changes and how they impact the project while partner with operations and the procurement team to minimize disruption due to changes
  • Communicate with Buyers on upcoming orders, fully executed agreements and related delivery agreements that affect assigned projects
  • Update and maintain Material Status Report with the support of the procurement team
  • Identify and escalate ongoing supplier/contractor issues to project teams and procurement department
  • Provide project specific feedback related to vendors that includes input from project teams, vendor Key Performance Indicators (KPI) metrics and overall company feedback
  • Provide input to Project Scheduling team for project schedules, including vendor submittal lead times and applicable material lead times for executed purchase orders
  • Thorough and regular communication with suppliers on assigned projects, ensure the latest delivery information is kept up to date and relayed to the Project Team and updated in project schedule
  • Ability to travel to site/suppliers as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Construction Management, Engineering, Business or relevant field preferred
  • Three years of experience in procurement, construction management, engineering or operations

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the company's Zero Injury principles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to work well within a team
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, Adobe Pro)
  • Proficient user of Power BI, procurement software and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, including understanding, developing and distributing reports and performing material reconciliation
  • Demonstrates knowledge of procurement life cycle processes and the effects on construction projects
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and technical documents
  • Familiar with developing reports and documents for distribution to management
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
