Join our team as a skilled Equipment Mechanic II! Under general supervision, you will maintain and repair a variety of gasoline and diesel-powered equipment; and perform related duties as required.
We are accepting applications to fill two (2) full time Equipment Mechanic II vacancies in the Resource Recovery & Waste Management Division (RRWMD) of the Public Works Department in Santa Barbara, at the South Coast Recycling Transfer Station and at the Tajiguas Landfill.
NOTE: The County may provide reimbursement for reasonable relocation expenses, and, at the discretion of the CEO, can provide flexible relocation assistance, housing and student loan offsets, cash incentives, and/or vacation and sick leave pre-accruals in the interest of attracting the best talent to the organization.
Although the incumbent will be assigned a home base location, the position may require regular travel throughout the County. Candidates should be available to travel for the position based on the needs of the department.
The Resource Recovery and Waste Management Division will provide the necessary equipment tools and required training to be successful at the position.

CSR 1414*: Position vacated as a leave of absence (CSR 1414) and the duration of the appointment shall be subject to the return of the individual who is on a leave. A person appointed to the position under CSR 1414 may be able to transition into a regular position in the classification without re-application or re-testing, depending on the performance of the appointee and the needs of the department.

Incumbents in this class perform most work outdoors, may be required to work in awkward positions, and may be exposed to hazards such as diesel exhaust.
