The Publicity Assistant will report to a Senior Publicity Manager in the Tor Publishing Group publicity department. In addition to departmental administrative duties, this position will provide support for other members of the publicity department, and work on a variety of books and authors across all of the TPG imprints, including Tor, Tor Teen, Tordotcom Publishing, Nightfire,
Bramble, and Forge.

What you'll do:

  • Assist publicity manager in her duties, as well as working to assist the department with administrative tasks
  • Coordinate author events and bookstore signings, create author tour schedules (both in-person and virtual), and book author travel for book tours and events
  • Handle book mailings and review copy requests, as well as manage monthly and seasonal catalog digital mailings
  • Monitor general publicity email inbox
  • Monitor and share reviews from various trade publications
  • Track media coverage and maintain internal publicity database
  • Write press materials and pitches

What you'll bring:

  • Excellent organization skills and detail-oriented
  • Ability to manage and assist on multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Ability to work independently and remotely, as well as collaboratively and as part of a team
  • Strong work ethic and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interest in book publishing and publicity, with a focus on SFF and romance genres
  • Proficiency with Google Workplace, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Ideal Experience:

  • Prior experience in a fast-paced environment; book publishing, publicity, or bookselling
  • A knowledge of the current romance, science fiction, fantasy, and horror media landscape

This role will have an annual salary of $47,500.
