Job Description Summary

American Axle & Manufacturing has openings for Managers, Engineering Project Management at its ATDC facility in Detroit, Michigan.

Job Description

Job duties include:

1. Leading a team of mechanical, electrical and software engineers to deliver e-drive units for state-of-the-art automotive products in the Automotive Electronics & Driveline domain.
2. Interacting with hardware and software development engineers, product requirements managers, prototype management, customers-Create summaries routinely to report progress to customer, review and negotiate implementation scope and project leaders.
3. Develop the Engineering Project Plan detailing concepts such as Project Management - project structure, project objectives, project resources, coordination of project communication, Supplier Management - supplier control, and objectives for quality, Change Management - change control and configuration management as per the definitions in ASPICE/Quality management.
4. Work across multiple domains (software, hardware, systems, system test, manufacturing, and project management) to deliver an e-Drive Unit with Software.
5. Breakdown work scope for implementation in releases, assign to leads and engineers (20+ engineers) using Agile methodology. Lead Change Control Board with stakeholders in determining work scope, Identify Issues & Plan them into releases using Issue Management in IBM RTC, PLM Team Center and DOORS.
6. Simplify complexity, create summaries with metrics for regular reporting of project status to management team.
7. Support Projects from Program initiation to Production, meeting all internal and customer milestones in between.
8. Negotiate software delivery content with the customer, set implementation and defect resolution priorities, manage release activities, incorporate ASPICE activities into software project plans.
9. Identify risks, define mitigation strategies and execute through risk management.

Required Skills and Education

Position requires: Bachelor's degree in Electronic, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or related field, or foreign equivalent education, and 4 years' experience working in the Electronics & Engineering field in the position of System Engineer, Senior Engineering Project Lead, or other Engineering positions. 4 years' experience is required in each of the following:

1. Developing processes and work products to adhere to Quality Management for Project management, Risk management, Change Management and Supplier Management.
2. Working with electrical or automotive customers.
3. Utilizing agile methodology for Planning & Issue monitoring.
4. Working with IBM RTC, DOORS, PLM Team center.

Experience may be obtained concurrently.
