We're looking for a junior engineer with experience working on horizontal directional drilling design to join the Mott MacDonald team. As an HDD engineer your responsibilities will include:

• Carry out design tasks under the supervision of a senior engineer.
• Review geotechnical reports
• Develop geometry required for HDD plans and profiles
• Complete design calculations for plastic and steel pipe installations including hydrofracture evaluations, pull loads and stresses, operating stresses, unconstrained buckling, railroad and highway loading, etc.
• Assist in preparing design reports
• Assist in developing risk registers
• Attend meetings
• Perform construction monitoring during HDD construction

We invite applications from candidates with:

• A bachelor's degree in engineering
• Understanding of geotechnical behaviors for soil and bedrock
• 0-1 year of HDD engineering design experience in one or more of the following project types: natural gas pipeline, facilities, liquids, transmission, gathering, midstream and treatment
• Possess sound judgment; highly developed management, organizational, interpersonal, presentation/training, oral and written communication skills; excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate and work with multi-disciplinary teams; and, deal with complex issues and maintain effective working relationships
