Job Description

Avion Solutions Inc., an employee-owned company, is seeking candidates for an Aviation Engineer to support Cargo Helicopters. This position is based in Huntsville, AL.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Provide technical expertise and support to the US Army Cargo Helicopters PO in developing and evaluating aircraft systems.
  • Provide engineering support in the areas of avionics management systems, communication, navigation, electronic warfare, voice/data recorders, and automatic flight control systems including avionics system architecture design and analysis, systems integration, test, evaluation, and performance analysis, system maintenance and troubleshooting, information assurance, and obsolescence management.
  • Conduct research, analysis, and assessment of new technologies, materials, and methodologies relevant to aircraft systems.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of test and evaluation activities for aircraft survivability equipment, including conducting data analysis and interpretation.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define project requirements, objectives, and milestones.
  • Support in design reviews and provide technical recommendations to ensure compliance with specifications and performance requirements.
  • Support the preparation and review of technical documentation, including reports, proposals, specifications, and test plans.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements for aircraft survivability equipment.
  • Maintain effective communication with team members, project managers, and customers to provide timely updates on project progress and deliverables.
  • Participate in Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), and Test Readiness Reviews (TRR).
  • Review software-related issues in safety documentation such as System Safety Risk Assessment (SSRA), System Safety Hazard Analysis (SSHA), Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA), and Failure Mode, and Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA).
  • Provide test witnessing.
  • Review hardware, software, and systems test plans, test procedures, and test reports.
  • Review and research new source approvals for hardware and systems.
  • Review Modification Work Orders and other aircraft integration documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills / Experience:

  • Bachelor's in Engineering.
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles, systems integration, and testing methodologies.
  • Proficiency in utilizing engineering software tools, data analysis techniques, and statistical methods.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to apply analytical thinking to complex technical challenges.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Must be a US Citizen and have/able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years of Engineering experience preferred.
  • Recent aerospace experience in Electrical/Avionics and Communication/Navigation integration in Army aviation systems.
