Responsibilities

  • The Wound Care RN will assess and determine a plan of treatment within 24-72 hours of physician consult.
  • Assesses patient's condition by reviewing all systems, the patient's health records and/or history.
  • Develop a treatment plan according to current evidence-based practice and explain rationale in the electronic charting
  • Institute preventive measures and monitor results of care delivered.
  • Consult with other members of the health care team in the management of acute and chronic wounds.
  • Provide demonstrations/education on dressing techniques, principals of aseptic technique and pressure injury prevention to patient and/or nursing staff.
  • Monitor nutritional deficiencies that will affect or impede wound healing.
  • All levels of ostomy care, planning, and teaching
  • Application of drainage collection devices and pouches
  • Any other wound related tasks/procedures deemed necessary by medical staff that fall within the scope of Wound Care RN

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Graduate of accredited School of Nursing
  • Current License as RN in the State of Texas
  • CPR and ACLS (recommended) certified by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Position requires fluency in English language to function in job environment appropriately

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a wound care nurse is preferred
  • Wound Care Certification preferred: Wound Ostomy Certified Nurse (WOCN), Wound Care Certified Nurse

    (WCC) Skin Wound Ostomy Certified Nurse (SWOC)
