Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Purpose
The Coordinator of Outreach and Engagement assists Wellness and Prevention Services, Student Health Services, and Counseling and Psychological Services in promoting and marketing all services, programs, and events. The purpose of this position is to enhance student knowledge and awareness of available services, programs, and events, promote health and well-being using innovative methods, and coordinate outreach and communication. The goal of the position is to increase engagement with existing services, programs, and events. This position creates content for departmental social media platforms, manages departmental website content, and is responsible for graphic design and branding needs. The Coordinator will also respond to and coordinate all outreach requests, engaging with students, faculty, staff, families, and community members through requested panels, tabling at campus resource fairs, etc.

Services Provided
The Coordinator is responsible for departmental outreach and engagement. This includes, but is not limited to, marketing, social media, branding, websites, graphic design, and outreach events. The Coordinator establishes relationships and works across departments, the Division of Student Affairs, with partners throughout the University, and with external groups to enhance student well-being.

  • Outreach: receive and organize outreach requests and opportunities; coordinate staffing, supplies, and promotional materials.
  • Websites: review and update departmental website content as needed, follow best practices in accessibility
  • Communication: consistently uses positive, professional, and timely communication skills
  • Writing: write and/or edit digital and print communications, write for the web with considerations, such as the use of keywords/SEO, hyperlinks, navigation, and the importance of brevity
  • Social media: monitor social media platforms, respond to inquiries, create and post innovative health promotion content (written, graphic, photo, and video)
  • Graphic design: create and publish engaging and accessible graphic design materials including logos, icons, images, etc.
  • Branding: facilitate departmental branding strategy, ensure consistency with university guidelines, establish clear departmental brand
  • Advertising: create digital and print materials to promote services, programs and events in a timely manner; produce error free, accessible, and engaging materials
  • Promotion: design engaging promotional materials, work with colleagues to purchase promotional materials, manage inventory of promotional materials
  • Events: assist with event planning and staffing, chronicle events for departmental archives and social media
  • Professional development: maintain expertise related to emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in social media and communication
