Job Duties:

• Effective at using computers and electronic components for safe and controlled operation of plant production, data entry, date retrieval, invoicing and production. Inputs numeric data and operational data into a computer system for Asphalt Plant production activities. Checks gauges, screens, alerts and is proactive in correction of any issues or concerns.
• Ensures the proper quantities of materials needed are used to produce specific asphalt mix designs.
• Demonstrates a good working knowledge of the Asphalt Plant controls regulating the flow of materials. Correctly operates controls, on panel board or control board, for loading trucks with material. Observes gauges, dials, and operation of machinery to ensure conformance to processing specifications.
• Maintains and monitors the speed, temp and workings of the system.
• Confirms Asphalt is mixed according to state specifications.
• Supervises the loading of asphalt onto trucks and trailers by ensuring the spill prevention is in place during off-loading.
• Able to coordinate correct mix into silo storage for appropriate project needs and loading. Understands which mix, or liquid to run. Ex. Private or State Job.
• Assists in repairs of plant and other necessary machinery using hand tools, power tools and welding equipment.
• Knowledge of maintenance practices and procedures sufficient to be able to assist in developing and maintaining programs for preventive maintenance.
• Knowledge of Safety Hazards and necessary precautions for self and others sufficient to be able to establish a safe work environment.
• Knowledge of training practices sufficient to be able to provide training to others. Mentors Asphalt Plant Crew. Assists in training of Plant Operators.
• Interprets and applies written guidelines precedents, and work practices to standardized work situations or specific cases.
• Recognizes non-standardized situations and prepares recommendations for resolution. Reports mechanical failures, and /or material inconsistencies to supervisor.
• Safely operates heavy equipment
• Relates professionally with plant production personnel, plant personnel, contractor personnel, customers, other employees and agency representatives.
• Following all safety policies and PPE use

Safety Requirements:

• Ability to work outdoors in high heat
• Ability to lift and carry weights up to 50 lbs. unassisted
• Ability to walk and stand on uneven surfaces for long periods of time
• Ability to operate hand tools, heavy equipment and other devices
• Ability to stoop, bend and climb as needed
• Climbing of steps or ladders in excess of 60 ft is required
• Ability to read, speak, see and understand signs, signals, commands, instruction and safety policies

Experience/Skills Required:

• Preferred candidates should have over 2 years experience in a plant production environment where working outdoors in extreme weather and in/around heavy equipment is the norm.
• Preferred candidates will have the ability to operate company vehicles which require a valid driver's license and good driving record.
