Position Summary

The role of Principal is to provide a safe and successful learning environment for students, while encouraging social and emotional development through the achievement of academic and personal goals aligned with the AMIkids mission. The Principal provides the leadership and management skills necessary to maximize the efforts of Team Members and students in an environment that is conducive to educational enhancement, growth, and achievement. The Principal supervises school staff regarding instruction, curriculum, student performance and manages school operations in partnership with the authorizing entity for the Charter School.

Essential Job Duties

  • Supervise, lead and manage all program operations to ensure effectiveness of program and alignment with contract(s) and AMIkids requirements,
  • Oversee Team Members work for completeness, accuracy and adherence to authorizing entity/local school district policies; evaluate and makes recommendations as appropriate,
  • Plan, evaluate and implement education programs, policies, goals and objectives,
  • Observe classroom environment and make recommendations for improvement of instructional delivery and classroom management as appropriate,
  • Conducts Team meetings and attends District meetings a necessary,
  • Enforce policies and procedures designed to protect the safety and welfare of students and Team Members while on campus,
  • Receive and respond to inquiries, concerns and complaints from teachers, students and parents,
  • Effectively resolve administrative, instructional and behavioral problems, as needed,
  • Submit records and reports as required by law and administrative directives,
  • Utilize student outcome/performance data to support instructional decisions at the school,
  • Ensure and manage financial functions are performed within AMIkids and IRS compliance, and documentation and reporting regulatory requirements,
  • Understand Program financial reports and take appropriate action to identify trends and discrepancies,
  • Foster productive working relationships with all stakeholders, (e.g. AMIkids Inc., Local School District, peer AMIkids programs, Community partners, local Board of Trustees, and regulatory agencies, etc.),
  • Communicate effectively with the Board on a consistent basis providing timely and accurate information enabling the Board to function properly and make informed decisions,
  • Plan and direct program operations to fulfill the local Board of Trustees' approved initiatives,
  • Expand local revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing program operations and regional expansion while simultaneously retiring debt,
  • Support resource development activities to include grant writing, cultivation and stewardship of donors; actively seeking and maintaining a diverse donor base while maintaining AMIkids values,
  • Partner with AMIkids Marketing Team to implement a strong marketing/branding initiative to ensure successful promotion and fund raising of the Program within the community and interested parties,
  • Attend and maintain CPR and First Aid certification by nationally recognized organization,
  • Attend and maintain appropriate crisis intervention and physical restraint training and certification as defined by state and contract requirements,
  • Possess and maintain a current valid driver's license and have a driving record that meets the standards of AMIkids Transportation Policy. (CDL may be required),
  • Maintain appropriate certification(s) and license(s),
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience

  • Master's Degree in Education Leadership
  • Three to five years related experience and/or training;
  • Holds and maintains state license as a School Principal/Administrator
