Overview

Altorfer Power Systems is seeking a seasoned Sales Management Professional to lead our growing Power Systems Sales Team. Applicant should have significant experience in leading either a high-performing Electrical or Power Systems Sales Team. Applicant must have a proven track record of market analysis, strategic market penetration planning and successful execution of that plan.

Basic Duties

The Sales Manager will study and assess this market and develop strategies to achieve Altorfer Industries' and Altorfer Power Systems' corporate and divisional goals.

      Perform historic and current market studies to identify market focus and appropriately segment the market.
    • Identify other market opportunities available to Altorfer.
    • Develop strategies to aggressively pursue identified market opportunities.
    • Hire, develop, and coach the team through the Sales Process. Challenge them to raise the bar and follow the proper steps to maintain proper market pricing, increase market share, and gross profit.
    • Travel frequently with the Team to get a sense of their ability to effectively manage time and territory.
    • Must empower the Team to manage their own deals and communicate regularly.
    • Must challenge the Team to conduct frequent Tours of Altorfer and/or Caterpillar locations.
    • Understand and support Altorfer Power Systems' goal of Excellence.
    • Must model and drive a culture of Integrity, Responsibility, Accountability, and Leadership.
  • Maintain healthy relationships in every department of Altorfer to drive a culture of professionalism and teamwork.
  • Responsible for scouting the competition and reporting back to Executive Team to stay abreast of the competition's strategies and programs.
  • Manage monthly profit and loss statements.
  • Manage Monthly Cost After Sales Report.
  • Exercise appropriate expense control in all areas i.e. Shipping, Events, Memberships, Contributions, Reversals, Loaners, Shop Costs, etc.
  • Responsible for managing their Team's deals.
    • Review project file and all PO's & Contracts for accuracy.
    • Sign the PO's & Contracts and forward them to Finance for approval.
    • When approved forward them back to the Contractor/End User.
  • Manage and submit Profit/Commission sheets on every invoiced deal.
  • Manage the Project Management Team to ensure equipment in ordered and delivered in a timely and professional manner to maximize customer satisfaction and revenue realization every month. Work with Project Management to update percentage of completion on each project monthly.
  • Responsible for holding the Team responsible for managing their Sales Link activities.

    • Customer Base
    • Lost Sales & Participation.
  • Responsible for maintaining a professional relationship with Caterpillar. Manage all Team communication with Cat Factory Personnel.
  • Conduct regular Sales Meetings in effort to keep the Team informed, educated, & motivated.
  • Responsible for seeking approval for any non-revenue producing action that may be costly to Altorfer i.e. SPARS, Rentals, Used Purchases, or Escrow Accounts managed for the customer.
  • Regular communication with the Altorfer Power Systems executive team. Maintain Sales Dashboard and attend staff meetings and report on dashboard.
  • The Sales Manager will formally report to the Executive Team once a year. Topics include but are not limited to Success Stories, Conquest Accounts, and plans to attack them as a TEAM, Competition, Job Lettings, Financial Report, & Goals.
  • The Sales Manager is responsible for protecting the financial health of Altorfer and upholding a high degree of Integrity and Accountability so as to attain the goal of Best in Class.
Qualifications

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Engineering, Business Administration, or Marketing Degree preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with clean driving record. This includes no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years (Motor Vehicle Report will be performed on final candidate).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position requires management of the sales and project management teams.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as specifications, drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence professionally. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees of an organization. Read and interpret contracts and purchase orders.

Mathematical Skills: Intermediate skills, Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentage, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry. Comprehension of a profit and loss statement is essential, as well as balance sheet fundamentals.

Reasoning Ability: High Skills, Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where little standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to analyze a situation and develop and implement strategies to address it.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

This position works primarily in an office environment. May, on a continuous basis, sit at a desk for a long period of time; answer telephone calls and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means, and in a vehicle traveling to and from locations. May on a continuous basis walk, bend and lift up to 20lbs. May be required to wear appropriate safety equipment (IE- Safety glasses or side shields) when needed. The noise level in the office environment is usually moderate to low. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
