A Sr. Lifecycle Engineer I will organize and lead product lifecycle design projects, complex technical tasks, and engineering process improvements. As critical members of our Operations team, Lifecycle Engineers actively support and sustain production at Abiomed by working with engineers, operators, and suppliers to strengthen our ability to manufacture and deliver high quality life-saving devices. They will be experts in the fields of root cause analysis, design control, and project management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop test methods to conduct characterization and engineering testing.
  • Perform mechanical, fluid, vibration, thermal, reliability, and systems analyses in support of root cause analysis of current designs and proposed design improvements
  • Collaborate with Production Teams to conduct engineering builds in our production environment to support design and process qualification.
  • Support and lead design for manufacturing projects and manufacturing automation projects
  • Assist fabrication of prototypes in collaboration with technical support team (Machine Shop, Technicians and Designers) and suppliers
  • Lead design reviews and present to peers, review teams, and company leadership
  • Organize and communicate project plans and status using software tools (MS Project, MS Powerpoint, Wrike, etc)
  • Lead project team meetings and provide technical direction.
  • Manage self for completion of tasks per plan.
  • Identify and establish new approaches and procedures.
Qualifications
  • BS in Engineering or directly related scientific subject area, MS Preferred
  • 5+ years of work experience in engineering, Medical Device experience preferred.
  • Experienced with Engineering CAD software. SolidWorks and EPDM preferred.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly, effectively, and frequently (oral and written)
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Ability to prioritize & complete tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred:
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable manufacturing processes such as injection molding, extrusion and adhesives.
  • Familiarity with analytical software (Ansys, MathCad, Minitab & Matlab)
  • Working knowledge of SAP.
Other:
  • May require up to 10% travel - US & EU
