Director Pediatric General Surgery

We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic leader to serve as the Division Director of Pediatric Surgery. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the Division of Pediatric Surgery, overseeing a team of 7 surgeons and 19 advanced practice providers. Surgical volume exceeded 2,500 cases in 2023. The Division is actively expanding and is poised with ambitious plans for program development and growth. This leadership role is pivotal in advancing the division's clinical, educational, and research initiatives.

Responsibilities:

* Division Leadership: Lead and guide the Division of Pediatric Surgery, providing strategic direction, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, education, and research.

* Residency and Fellowship Programs: Collaborate with the graduate medical education team to facilitate the integration of general surgery residents from surrounding programs and to develop a Pediatric Surgery Fellowship program. Additionally, oversee the existing research fellowship programs.

* Clinical Excellence: Ensure the division maintains its commitment to excellence in patient care by monitoring and enhancing clinical practices, maintaining a high surgical volume, and optimizing patient outcomes.

* Research and Innovation: Foster a culture of research and innovation within the division, encouraging faculty and trainees to actively participate in research projects and contribute to advancements in pediatric surgery.

* Strategic Expansion: Play a pivotal role in executing the surgical strategic plan, which involves expanding current programs and developing new ones to meet the growing needs of the community and enhance the hospital's reputation.

* Reporting: Report directly to the Chair of Surgery, providing regular updates on divisional activities, achievements, and challenges.

* Team Development: Recruit, mentor, and retain talented surgeons and advanced practice providers while fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Qualifications:

* MD or DO degree with board certification in Pediatric Surgery.

* Eligibility for an Ohio medical license.

* Proven leadership experience in a clinical or academic healthcare setting.

* A strong track record of clinical excellence and scholarly activity.

* Dedication to education and a commitment to fostering the growth of surgical trainees.

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

* A vision for advancing pediatric surgery services and research.
