Description of the Department or Unit
The Department of Sustainable Technology & the Build Environment (STBE) houses three academic programs: the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Sustainable Technology; the BS in Building Sciences, with three concentrations; and the Master of Science in Technology, with two concentrations. The Department includes 35 full-time faculty serving approximately 830 undergraduate and 10 graduate students. STBE has played an integral role in building the University's sustainability agenda, which features prominently in the University's Strategic Plan. Students in these programs have achieved notable successes in national and international competitions such as the Formula Sun Grand Prix and American Solar Challenge, the USDOE Race to Zero and Solar Decathlon, Solar Decathlon Europe, and the US EPA P3 program, among others.

This foundation acts as a catalyst for growth and success in our graduates' careers. Students go on to career paths in architecture, construction, building performance assessment, and facilities management.
