The Senior Faculty Director for Pre-Professional Advising is a key member of the Center for Advising Resources and Support team and reports to the Director. Creighton's Center for Advising Resources and Support (CARS) is a collaborative hub for advising. This is a 12-month position and includes opportunities for teaching and faculty research. Key responsibilities for the center include pre-professional advising, campus collaboration in advising and retention, supporting usage of Creighton's student success management and advising software, and coordinating Creighton's first-year experience program with campus partners.
Responsibilities:
* Lead CARS initiatives related to pre-professional advising;
* Enhance and coordinate pre-professional communities;
* Serve as the lead coordinator for the school of medicine committee letter process;
* Collaborate as the CARS liaison to the professional schools;
* Contribute to advisor development resources such as webinars, speakers and newsletter articles;
* Assist in retention and completion efforts for all students, engaging with campus partners in outreach, referral and support;
* Opportunities for teaching, faculty research, and student involvement;
* Participate in recruitment efforts, serving as a resource for prospective students and families in collaboration with partners in admissions; and
* Support faculty and staff across campus with pre-professional advising questions and resources.
Qualifications:
* Master's Degree required
* An individual who holds faculty rank in the College of Arts & Sciences
* Tenured faculty members will retain status and rank in the College of Arts & Sciences
* Experience with academic advising, pre-health advising, and/or the Ratio Studiorum Program
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Excellent communication skills in writing, speaking and presenting
* Works independently and as part of a team
* Maintains accurate student records and handles student records ethically in accordance with FERPA, consistently documenting all student interactions in the Creighton Connect holistic advising and support system
* Fosters student growth and reflection.
* Collaborates across campus departments with both faculty and staff
* Proficient in MS Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook
