Minimum Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in teaching/education field
  • Teaching experience in K-6 public schools
  • Hold or is eligible for a K-6 North Carolina Teaching License
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
License/Certification Required
Holds or is eligible for a K-6 North Carolina Teaching License
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in Elementary Education
  • North Carolina public school teaching experience
  • Holds a North Carolina K-6 Teaching License
  • Has hosted preservice interns as a classroom teacher
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This position serves as a Clinical Field Experiences University Supervisor. The role is primarily one of providing supervision of clinical interns for clinical interns in public schools. This position will also have summer responsibilities of assisting with various professional development opportunities for teachers and supervisors, updating recourses for clinical experiences and supporting the work within the Office of Field Experiences.

Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:

Clinical Internship Responsibilities
  • Supervise and evaluate 15 Elementary Education Clinical Interns (student teachers) per semester. This will require travel to partner school districts.
  • Assist with Clinical Educator Institutes each semester and summer
  • Conduct Seminars and Regional meetings with assigned clinical interns
  • Serve as a mentor to adjunct university field supervisors
  • Serve as the liaison between the Office of Field Experiences, clinical educators, and clinical interns in P-6 schools.
  • Attend and assist with the opening and closing of supervisor meetings
  • Conduct regular check-ins with assigned clinical interns, clinical educators, and principals
  • Grade and provide feedback on weekly assignments and lesson plans of assigned clinical interns
  • Conduct a minimum of three formal observations for each student teacher
  • Complete three Certificate of Teaching Capacity (CTC) rubrics for each clinical intern
  • Complete an Educator Dispositions Assessment for each clinical intern
  • Develop growth plans for clinical interns, as needed, and share with the Director of Clinical Education
  • Develop, update, and maintain content in AsULearn sections for the clinical internship sections
  • Create Student Teaching courses and duplicate for supervisors in GoReact
  • Create support plans and supervise students who require remediation, in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Education.
  • Document Continuing Education Credits for University Field Supervisors
  • Maintains updated placement information in the Banner system and other areas in collaboration with faculty making requests.

Other Responsibilities
  • Assist with Second and Third Steps to Teaching Meetings (inviting students and recording attendance in preparation for field placements and internships).
  • Assist with field placements for approximately 900 students per academic year in public schools as needed each semester.
  • Communicate with faculty members who teach Professional Core and methods-based courses with field experiences as appropriate.
  • Process forms and documentation necessary for field experiences with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Develop and update online placement and process information for students and faculty to arrange field experiences in schools.
  • Assist with orientation meetings and seminars to support Clinical Interns.
  • Build and maintain relationships with various P12 stakeholders
  • Communicate with various P12 stakeholders.
