Training Systems Integrator
This position is Contingent Upon Customer Approval
Purpose:
  • Valkyrie Enterprises is seeking a Training Systems Integrator to support Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) at Naval Air Station (NAS) in Patuxent River, Maryland .
  • The Training Systems Integrator will support the Next Generation Threat System (NGTS) in a continually evolving synthetic environment generator that supports multiple platform/services training, testing, analysis and research and development.
Job Description:
  • The Training Systems Integrator functions as a project manager and lead integration engineer for projects involving integration of simulations or trainers within the NGTS.
  • Responsible for all scheduling aspects and deconflicts against all other Integration related responsibilities.
  • Keeps all other engineering functions within the organization (i.e. networks, operations, information assurance, software development) informed of all implications of the integration event to the NGTS.
  • Leads, via an Integrated Project Team (IPT), NGTS software development resources in cases where integration work requires additional software functionality in core simulations.
  • Familiar with Interoperability Standards and as such, provides advice and guidance to external simulation/trainer engineers so they are able to create systems that function correctly.
  • Periodically will fill the role of technical lead in support of specific training exercises. In this role, the Integration Engineer is the liaison between the M&S Operations Event Lead and the engineering department and is responsible for identifying and responding to simulation problems, notifying leadership of issues and coordinating with engineering resources to correct or work around the problem in order to ensure training success.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a relevant STEM degree is required
    • In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 5 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience. Experience working with Navy systems and/or commands desirable but not mandatory.
  • Must have CompTIA Security + and Linux+ certifications.
  • Must have operational knowledge and experience interfacing with simulation systems like Joint Semi-Automated Forces (JSAF) and MSEA's Next Generation Threat System (NGTS/AMIE).
  • Must have familiarity with simulated Weapon Servers, Navy Aviation Distributed Training Center (NADTC), and Navy Aviation Simulation Master Plan (NASMP) trainer systems.
  • Must be able to demonstrate experience with distributed simulation and interoperability experience, seamlessly connecting simulation systems over the Navy networks.
  • Must be well-versed in the areas of Cyber Security, Cross Domain Solution (CDS), and ATO requirements, and have a good understanding of JBUS gateway, DRMS/ASTI Radios, and distributed stimulation protocols (DIS, HLA, and TENA).
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Must know networking concepts, architectures, and transport technologies like TCP/IP.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Ability to utilize network and distributed modeling & simulation tools such as Wireshark, PLEXSYS, and SIMDIS.
  • Knowledge of Distributed Simulation protocols such as High Level Architecture (HLA) and Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS).
  • Familiarization with HLA Federation Object Model (FOM) architecture and/or Object Oriented Design (OOD) concepts and techniques.
  • Knowledge of Navy C4I tactical systems such as Link 16 and GCCS.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot distributed simulation problems and provide acceptable solutions or corrections.
  • Ability to provide technical project leadership, establish milestones, estimate resources, and other project management skills.
Security Requirements
  • Must have an active DoD Top Secret clearance and/or the ability obtain and maintain it.
Travel Requirements:
  • Occasional travel - up to 20-25%

Pay Range: $100,000 - $140,000 per year
