Guidance Navigation and Control Engineer
Purpose:
  • Hill Technical Solutions (HTS), an operation of Valkyrie Enterprises, is looking for a Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C) Engineer in Huntsville, AL.
Job Description:
  • Responsible for the design, development, analysis and testing of flight vehicle GN&C systems for hypersonic and missile defense applications.
  • Responsible for understanding aspects of GN&C system design, development, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Develop, model, and analyze navigation, guidance and control algorithms through digital and hardware-in-the-loop simulations.
  • Design missile and flight vehicle integrated guidance, navigation, and control system.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers.
  • Develop models for hypersonic and missile defense guidance systems for sensitivity analysis.
  • Develop updates to 6DoF Simulation.
  • Research and become familiar with GN&C systems and technologies in use by DoD organizations.
  • Develop and implement test plans for ground testing of GN&C systems.
  • Develop interface control documents (ICD)
  • Prepare and present briefings.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor's of Science (BS) Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related engineering field and at least 2 years of related experience.
  • Must have demonstrated capability in performance analysis, design, integration, and testing of GN&C Systems for use in offensive and defensive missile systems.
  • Must have excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to conduct research and perform analysis on requirements, capability, and operational effects as required.
  • Must have the ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
  • Must be highly motivated and self-directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Must have proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Must have strong customer service orientation.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Prefer experience with Kalman Filter design.
  • Prefer experience with Navigation software development and testing.
  • Prefer experience with Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs).
  • Prefer experience with embedded software and firmware.
  • Prefer familiarity with modern and developmental GPS and INS systems.
  • Prefer a Doctorate Degree (PhD).
Security Requirements:
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
Travel Requirements:
  • Occasional Travel; 20% or less.
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Able to sit and work on a computer for long periods of time.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
