Asphalt Lab Quality Control Technician 
Frederick, MD
 
This is a salaried position that performs on construction projects any combination of the duties described more below. A Quality Control Technician typically performs a wide variety of tasks, transferring from one task to another as the workflow dictates.
 
Requirements:
  • Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees
  • Pass background and drug & alcohol screening
  • Valid United States Driver’s License
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Willingness to learn new concepts
  • Knowledge and ability to perform Mathematical skills
  • Computer Proficiency

Job Duties:
  • This position is responsible for the daily testing of Hot Mix Asphalt to ensure compliance to all state, federal and job specifications.
  • Proficiently and accurately sample, test and conduct visual inspection of construction materials according to the appropriate standard test methods in order to ensure all results are within specified test limits.
  • Test methods include but not limited to DOT regulations.
  • Communicate and document test results to plant supervisor and operations Manager.
  • Troubleshoot problems with product as required.
  • Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.

Work Demands:
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform Key Duties.
  • Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 40 lbs.
  • Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
