Email communications between a single sender and recipient can vary widely in quality, content and thoughtfulness.

It’s often exhausting, time-consuming and even frustrating to write right and well, only to have the receiver quip back with a one-word reply, or worse, to not respond at all.

Sometimes, when you take the time and energy, it doesn’t really seem to ‘matter.’

But what about those times when it does?

Do you always know how heartily and/or personally that next note will be consumed?

Do you want to risk sending a sloppily thought out sentiment?

Wouldn’t you rather take the time and do it well in the off chance that it will matter and / or be taken to heart versus hastily writing in a way that may fall flat, or worse, offend the reader and spur their response in the wrong direction?

In sum, while we can’t control the reader’s interpretation of, or frame of mind when consuming our writings, we can take the helm of our words. In doing so, we create well constructed, meaningfully fleshed out thoughts and mini-stories and — when we least expect it — they may serve as career lighthouse beacons, navigating to hopeful, reparative and/or rejuvenating horizons!
