Company Overview
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), is a non-profit membership organization of 67,000 pediatricians committed to the mission of attaining optimal physical, mental, and social health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents and young adults. To accomplish this, the AAP supports the professional needs of its members.

The AAP was founded in 1930 by 35 pediatricians to serve as an independent forum to address children’s health needs. At that time, the idea that children had unique developmental and health needs was new. Practices that are now standard preventive care (i.e., immunization, regular health exams) were only just beginning to change the custom of treating children as “miniature adults.”

The AAP’s activities and programs are funded through a wide array of sources including membership dues, revenues from continuing medical education activities and publications, as well as grants and contributions from individuals, foundations, corporations and government agencies. Grants and contributions support more than 200 programs each year.

The American Academy of Pediatrics offers an excellent work environment, competitive salary, and a comprehensive benefits package. As a reaffirmation to our employee-focused culture, since 2005 the AAP has been named one of the 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work for in the Chicagoland area. Additionally, we are an Equal Opportunity Employer of Minorities, Females, Individuals with Disabilities, and Veterans that values the strength diversity brings to our workplace.
