Job Description
Early Learning Academy Internship (B.A./BSW-Level)
Casa Central's Early Learning Academy provides Center- and Home-Based Head Start, Early Head Start and early childhood education programming for young children, ages birth to five, and their families. In the Center-Based program, children ages 2-5 come for full-day programming; in the Home-Based component, children ages birth to five, and their parents, participate in weekly home visits with a Parent Educator and bimonthly group socialization and learning activities. The program provides additional supports to families in order to ensure that children are physically and emotionally healthy and developmentally on target, and that families have the resources they need, to ensure children's success in Kindergarten and beyond.
Population served: Young children (ages birth to five) and their families
Internship learning opportunities: Support the Family Development Specialists with conducting family-centered assessments, establishing family goals, and supporting progress in achieving goals; ensure children are receiving the medical and dental care they need to ensure their overall health and wellbeing; develop and deliver trainings and workshops for parents; assist with recruitment and marketing activities; participate in program evaluation and performance and quality improvement activities, including collecting and analyzing data about participant satisfaction, staff training and support needs, etc.; support special activities such as recognition of the Week of the Young Child, Kindergarten Transition ceremonies, father/male involvement activities, etc.; provide support in classrooms for children with diverse learning needs, including implementing social-emotional learning activities; support connecting children with suspected developmental delays to the appropriate systems.
Internship hours/scheduling available: Monday-Friday, 9am to 5pm; 2 semester placement. Students must be available on Tuesdays, between 4:30-6:30pm, for clinical supervision, which is provided by an LCSW in a small group format.
Requirements:
Must comply with IDCFS and criminal background checks, fingerprinting, drug screening, and TB testing.
Must be bilingual (English and Spanish).
Reliable transportation required.
