DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Federal-Mogul's Powertrain Division is looking for a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Intern who will be given engineering responsibilities that will support the company as well as tie into the intern's relevant experiences. This individual will become a valued member of our Greenville facility, where we produce automotive and heavy duty bearings, bushings, and washers.

An ideal candidate for this position is a candidate who is pursuing their Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with a focus in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering. Additionally, the candidate must be of
sophomore or junior class standing. Prior experience in an engineering capacity (internship, etc.) or manufacturing environment is a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Learn the basic production flow from beginning to end of the products made in the facility.
  • Create and implement basic process improvements for various shop floor systems.
  • Identify safety concerns within the plant and design processes and equipment improvements to mitigate and eliminate such concerns.
  • Communicate with shop floor employees and engineers, supervisors, and members of management to implement new processes.
  • Shadow engineering mentor and assist with additional tasks and responsibilities that he or she assigns.



REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:
Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, with a focus in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering. Must be of Sophomore or Junior class standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Familiarity with basic engineering principles and ability to apply classroom knowledge
    to practical manufacturing problems.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage workload and seek out assistance when needed.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Comfortable communicating with people of all backgrounds.
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute.
  • Comfortable with working in a heavy manufacturing environment with high summer temperatures and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
